1st IEEE European Symposium on Security and Privacy
Since 1980, the IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy has been the premier forum for presenting developments in computer security and electronic privacy, and for bringing together researchers and practitioners in the field. Following this story of success, IEEE now initiates the first European Symposium on Security and Privacy. IEEE EuroS&P will from now on be organized every year and it will be hosted anually in a European city.
The Symposium will be held on March 21-24, 2016 at the Congress Center Saar, Saarbrücken, GERMANY.
The keynote will be held by Adi Shamir on Tuesday, March 22!
Abstract: In this talk I will consider the security aspects of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, which bridge the physical and virtual worlds, and propose a new taxonomy of attacks which classifies them into four broad categories. The most interesting category (called functionality extension attacks) uses the designed functionality of the IoT device to achieve a totally different effect. I will describe several new attacks of this type, and conclude with some predictions about future trends in this rapidly evolving field.
