Hotel Information

New cutoff date for hotel reservations: April 27, 2007.

The Symposium will be held in its traditional location at the Claremont Resort, in Berkeley, California, "one of the few hotels in the world with warmth, character and charm" according to Frank Lloyd Wright.

Making Hotel Reservations

A block of rooms has been put aside for Symposium attendees. There are two main types of rooms available (rates do not include sales/room tax of 11.045%, a resort incidentals fee ( $4 / day), or the parking fee ( $16 / day)):

Government rates are also available for a limited number of rooms for qualified attendees who specify this when making their reservation.

Specify the room type you would like when making your reservation. Please note that rooms are limited availability, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please be sure to use the group name "IEEE Security" when you make reservations, and speak to "in-house" reservations, not "central". "In-house" reservations is available from 8-5pm Pacific time at 1-800-551-7266, or fax to 1-510-843-6239. If the "in-house" reservation agents are busy, you will be automatically transferred to "central" reservations, so ensure that you are speaking with an "in-house" reservations agent!

The Hotel requires a deposit in advance from individual guests to guarantee reservations. This can be done through a check or money order for the first night plus sales tax, or though a signed letter or card authorizing a credit card charge, or by giving a major credit number by phone. Guaranteed reservations are held until at least midnight, at which time the reservation and deposit are forfeited.

Travel

The Claremont is easily accessible through three airports, San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. Driving Directions to the Claremont are given for San Francisco and Oakland. If you are driving from San Jose, leave San Jose airport and head to Oakland. Once in/near Oakland, follow the driving directions given.

If you prefer not to drive, there are several options available, including taxis and the ever popular BayPorter shuttle. Some options and estimated fees are at the end of the Claremont's "Meeting Planner's Guide".
