Student Travel Support Grants
The IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Security and Privacy would like encourage student participation in the Symposium by subsidizing the travel costs of individuals who would otherwise be unable to attend the conference.
Requests for funding will be accepted up until the last day of the conference as funding allows, but will begin making awards on May 16th, 2007.
The organizing committee of the SP 2007 is pleased to announce availably of of additional
funds to support student travel and registration to attend this year's symposium.
Students receiving funding will receive up to $750 to
offset reasonable expenses associated with attendance. Current funds are sufficient to
support up to an additional 11 students. Money is available for students from from both
the US and international institutions.
Awards will be made given on several factors, in descending order of emphasis, a) student
authors presenting at the conference, b) economic need, c) historically under-represented
institutions at S&P, and d) seniority of the students.
To apply, the student's advisor
should send a one paragraph statement of economic need, student's progress toward graduation,
and research in areas related to S&P to:
oakland07-student-travel@ieee-security.org.
Due to the closeness of the symposium, we will accept requests for funding up until the last day of the conference as funding allows, but will begin making awards on May 16th, 2007. We anticipate that all funding will be allocated very soon after the 16th, so it behooves students to ensure requests are sent in prior to that date.
Please forward any additional questions to the email address above. We look forward to
seeing you in Oakland!
